Stefan Fatsis, a Wall Street Journal reporter and National Public Radio regular, recounts his remarkable rise through the ranks of elite Scrabble players while exploring the game's strange, potent hold over them -- and him. Scrabble might truly be called America's game. More than two million sets are sold every year and at least thirty million American homes have one. But the game's most talented competitors inhabit a sphere far removed from the masses of "living room players." National Scrabble Association - The National Scrabble Association was created in 1978 by Selchow & Righter, then the makers of Scrabble, to promote their game. It coordinates local clubs and Scrabble tournaments in North America, including the National Scrabble Championship.

Super Scrabble - Super Scrabble is a board game that is a variant of Scrabble, first introduced in 2004. It is manufactured by Winning Moves Games, but licensed by Hasbro, the makers of Scrabble.
